A group of California seniors hired a mariachi band to follow their principal around school. Principal John Becchio walked into his office at 7:15 Tuesday morning, and the four-man band was waiting. They followed him through the halls for more than an hour. The principal said the pranks don't bother him as long as the seniors are making good choices.
After winning in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, California Chrome is now the latest horse to have a chance at the triple crown this weekend in New York. In the last 114 years,less than two dozen horses have been in a position to earn horse racing's biggest honor, and it hasn't happened in more than three decades. Chrome is the favorite, listed at 3-to-5 to win.
Pentagon officials say Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl is showing signs of improvement after being held captive for five years. He's undergoing examinations and psychological counseling: a three-phase re-integration process designed by the U.S. military. It includes emergency medical care, psychological support and meetings and debriefing him on any specific information he can share about where and how he was held.
A memorial is growing on the campus of Seattle Pacific University. Police say a gunman opened fire Thursday, killing one person and wounding two others before he was subdued by a student security guard. They were able to disarm him when he stopped to reload his weapon. In the aftermath, students and members of the community have brought cards and flowers and candles to the university.
A gunman accused of killing three police officers and wounding two others in Canada is in custody after more than a day on the run. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say they arrested 24-year-old Justin Bourque around midnight local time. Swat teams swarmed neighborhoods and surrounded buildings, warning everyone to stay inside, lock their doors and remain calm. A motive has not been released at this time.
