Trolley on Tour in Bentonville

BENTONVILLE, AR-- A trolley is touring the streets of downtown Bentonville this week. And you can hop on board for free.
BENTONVILLE, AR-- A trolley is touring the streets of downtown Bentonville this week. And you can hop on board for free.

It's part of an Ozark Regional Transit test that could lead to a permanent route in Bentonville.

The trolley will cruise tourists through Bentonville to Crystal Bridges, along with some stops in between.

So, why a trolley?

"Just because it's kind of a tourist destination and the trolley just kind of attracts more attention and goes more along with the tourist trade," says Jeff Hatley, Public Information Officer & Mobility Manager.

The trolley will deliver people from Crossmark to downtown Bentonville Inc. with one other stop on south Main Street.

The two-day test will collect information about route hours, roads to use, number of loops per hour, and fuel costs.

Riders can try it out Thursday and Friday July 24-25 from 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

The trolley service could start as early as next year.

The city still needs to work out who will pay for it.
