UAFS Professor Arrested for Child Porn

FORT SMITH, AR -- An assistant professor at University of Arkansas Fort Smith is facing child porn charges.
FORT SMITH, AR --  An assistant professor at University of Arkansas Fort Smith (UAFS) is facing child porn charges.

Travis Brown, 44, pleaded not guilty in federal court Monday for arraignment on the charges, according to Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. Brown teaches graphic design, according to the UAFS website.  On January 29 a Federal Grand Jury issued an indictment against Brown charging four counts of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Eldridge says crimes that victimize children remain among the highest priorities for his office.

"You know, when you are dealing with a case such as this, that has 630 images of child pornography, of children that are 10 years to 12 years of age or younger, it is just really an outrageous situation."

This case is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police and Homeland Security Investigations.
