ROGERS -- U.S. Senator John Boozman’s recovery continues to progress following unplanned heart surgery Tuesday. According to his office, he remains hospitalized but doctors have moved him from the intensive care unit to a private recovery room.

Boozman was taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers and diagnosed with acute aortic dissection after suffering from chest and arm pains. He was in town to appear at the ribbon cutting for the Bella Vista Bypass.

His family says doctors "are amazed at how quickly Boozman is recovering from the surgery" and that the senator has been "walking frequently with the aid of medical staff."
