The Yvonne Richardson Community Center in Fayetteville started it's basic needs drive Saturday afternoon. Donations will help stock a pantry that the center uses to serve the community all year round.
Champions for Kids started things off right, making the first donation.
"We know that there is a need and we just want to be one of the many that tries to create solutions for that need," said Tenisha Gist.
YRCC will be accepting items that have an extended shelf life such as canned food, bottle water, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, detergent, towels, socks, etc. They also offer free programs and events for those less fortunate.
