Doctors say more and more people are visiting the emergency room with weather-related injuries.
ROGERS, AR -- Doctors say more and more people are visiting the emergency room with weather-related injuries. We spoke to an ER doc at Mercy Hospital in Rogers who says the biggest culprits for injuries are slips and falls on slick streets and sidewalks. Dr. Hugh H. Jackson tells us, even if it doesn't seem like you're seriously hurt, you may be underestimating the damage done.
"What may be more of a bump or a bruise to a younger, healthier person, to an older person may be more of a substantial injury, some of which you can't see," he says.
Doctors say those most at risk for falls are the elderly but they say when icy weather hits, it could happen to anyone, so take it slow out there!
