FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- Fayetteville might be a college town - but a recent ranking shows it's also got lots to offer military veterans.

The USAA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program today announced the top 10 “Best Places for Veterans: Jobs” list with Fayetteville earning the No. 7 ranking among medium-sized metro areas with populations between 175,000 and 500,000.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for veterans under the age of 25 is almost 20 percent, and overall veteran unemployment is two percent higher than the national average. To help veterans pinpoint the places offering the most opportunities for employment, the study evaluated several key job market indicators such as the top industries employing post-9/11 veterans, unemployment rates and recent job growth across 379 metro areas. The study also factored in access to healthcare and higher education.

The 2013 “Best Places for Veterans: Jobs” list identifies U.S. metro areas that offer America’s new generation of veterans more opportunities to find a military skill-related job. The remainder of the medium metros list includes:
