FAYETTEVILLE, AR--The FBI is now getting involved with an investigation into a multi-million dollar budget shortfall at the University of Arkansas. The move comes after a $4.2 million deficit was uncovered in the university's fundraising division earlier this year. According to the Washington County Prosecutor's office in Fayetteville, a local FBI agent is now helping sort through records and conducting interviews to figure out what happened. Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office is looking at possible charges in the accounting practices that led to the deficit. It's looking into claims university leaders mishandled public records. A hearing is set for December 13th with Brad Choate. Choate is the former university advancement vice-chancellor who lost his job following the incident.
