((KNWA/NBC))-- The countdown is on until the Winter Olympics and one young American is living up to her name and and on her way to achieving a big dream. As we've been reporting, teen skating sensation, Gracie Gold, was the headliner at the US National Championships in Boston on Saturday, defeating runner-up Polina Edmunds by 18 points. Gold's almost flawless free-skate routine also earned her a spot on the US Olympic team in Sochi. And Tuesday morning, she appeared the Today Show to talk about her performance.
"I was on top of the world," said Gold. "I'm still on cloud nine. I was so proud of how I skated and how I was able to earn my spot to Sochi. It's a lot to take in, that I'm going to Sochi. That I just made the Olympics at 18 i'm fulfilling like my biggest life goal thus far." Don't forget. Our countdown to Sochi continues. We'll be covering the 2014 Olympics straight from Sochi starting February 6th.
