NATIONWIDE-- The clean up is underway around the midwest after dozens of tornadoes, at least eight deaths, and a disaster declaration in seven counties. Now, many are facing life without their loved ones and cleaning up the mess left behind from mother nature in a one-two punch over the weekend.

"I seen that rain start swirling and i just took off running," says one homeowner. "Next thing i know, stuff was flying next to me." In Lebanon, Indiana, a deputy caught an approaching twister on his dash cam. Others could only wait, as the storm passed. I just looked at my husband and said i don't know what to do, says a homeowner in Peoria, Illinois.

"And we just stood in the hallway where there were no windows, and we held each other." It was that quick."

Illinois was the hardest hit with damaging winds and tornadoes tearing through 11 other states from Michigan to New York.
