Hop in the Ring to Help NWA Women's Shelter

FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Women spent Saturday learning how to duck and dodge all for a good cause.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Women spent Saturday learning how to duck and dodge all for a good cause.

The UFC Gym in Fayetteville hosted a Women's Self Defense Seminar to benefit the Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter.

Professional fighter Rob McCullough taught the ladies basic defense tactics like how to get up off the ground and how to get away. There was also an MMA seminar where the ladies learned even more safety strategies.

"Obviously there's a need for everybody to be able to defend themselves, and we thought that it would be great to partner with the women's shelter to offer a benefit," said Adam Sharp, UFC Gym owner.

"It's a scary world out there, so I would encourage every female to just learn how to take care of themselves," said participant Joy Williams.

This was the first seminar the gym hosted and they were glad to be able to show support and raise donations for the NWA Women's Shelter.
