, overall broadcast and cable ratings have been dropping for two straight years.  Collectively, the major providers lost 113,000 subscribers in the third quarter of 2013. Cable TV ratings are sinking. Cable TV ratings are in an historic slump, notes the article.  For the first time ever, cable TV subscribers is about to drop below 40 million.
