As we creep closer to Christmas, checking off those items on the shopping list is becoming even more critical. For folks looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the mall, downtown Bentonville may be just what you need to finish your shopping.
"We've been able to maintain the legacy of our established businesses but also to encourage new businesses to come in and find their niche in our market," David Deggs said, Executive Director for Downtown Bentonville, Inc.
It's helping make downtown Bentonville a kind of retail melting pot.
"A lot of these businesses have come out with great innovative ideas and business concepts that have really kind of rejuvenated our downtown area," he said.
Like shop owner and Bentonville native Lisa Wright, who started small, renting space out of a nearby flower shop.
"On a Saturday in January, that little bitty space was filled with 15 women and I was like, okay, it's time to expand and get a bigger space," Wright said.
"I saw a lot of my target market down here on the square so that's really what drove me to this spot," she said.
Now, business is booming for Wright and others like her as Downtown Bentonville serves as a place to get a taste of everything.
"We have really built the community that the citizens want and expect and we look forward to seeing more growth and development as we continue to grow our downtown district," Deggs said.
"There's just so much to offer in one spot. You can hit it all," Wright said.
