Northeastern Blizzard Takes Toll On NWA Travelers

HIGHFILL, AR. -- Some people traveling home after the holidays were given a rude awakening after flights were delayed or cancelled due to a massive winter storm.
HIGHFILL, AR. --- We've seen the pictures of the winter storm pounding parts of the Midwest, North and Northeast.

That winter weather is taking a toll on folks right here in Northwest Arkansas.

Thousands of flights to Chicago, Newark and New York were cancelled on Thursday due to the weather. Joy Stay of Gravette and her 8 month old daughter were supposed to leave at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday to travel to Chicago for a funeral. Her flight didn't end up leaving until 5:15 p.m. Thankfully, she had her husband and her mother in law who stayed with her until her flight left.

If you are flying out of XNA, be sure to check on your flights status before going to airport.
