NWA Council Reaches Out to College Dropouts

The Northwest Arkansas Council is working to bring people back to college with a fair on Tuesday.
Springdale, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Council is working to bring people back to college with a fair on Tuesday.

Communications Director Rob Smith says new companies considering a move into an area look at a wide variety of factors, including the number of degree holders.
According to the council, about 28 percent of the population here holds a degree, compared to more than 30 percent at regions we benchmark against, and it takes hundreds of degrees to gain just one percentage point.

The council is hosting a Come Back to College Fair to help people who have some credit find a way to return to school.

"Come and show up and at least ask the question, 'What's it going to cost?'" Smith says. "They can evaluate your transcript. They can look at where you're short and maybe figure out what would be your shortest path to graduation."

The fair will also have information about Associate's Degrees and Technical Certifications for people who aren't interested in a four year program.
It runs from 4:30 to 8 tomorrow at the Jones Center in Springdale. For more information, visit this site.
