This is the creation of Texas father and his two sons. The father says he's already written his congressional representatives so decided to poke a little fun at the crisis. You can see the carving is only half done and has a sign on top of it mocking those posted at national parks that were closed because of the shutdown. It reads, "due to the government shutdown work on this pumpkin has been temporarily halted."

A husband and wife were startled to see bears rummaging through their car outside their Georgia home. They say the largest bear opened the car door with ease. After not finding much more than some papers and gum, the couple says the animals wandered off, leaving behind a few scratches as a reminder of their visit.

An Arizona man popped the question after he and his fiance-to-be made it through a 13-floor haunted house, battling ghouls and of course, zombies along the way. With the engagement ring served up on a severed arm, she said yes.
