FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Police say this man was intoxicated when he ran over a man's leg and hit a taxi on New Year's Eve.

Steven Hicks, 24, was arrested early Wednesday morning on several charges including aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving while intoxicated.

According to a report, officers saw a gray Dodge Caravan hit a taxi after leaving the Hog Haus brewery parking lot. Police said the van pushed the cab several feet then left, heading north on West Avenue. The report said the van hit a second car and continued speeding down West with its headlights off.

Eyewitnesses said the van also ran over a man in a parking lot who later told police Hicks had gotten in a fight before he left.

Officers said they caught up to the van, driven by Hicks, on Martin Luther King Boulevard where he was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. Hicks told police he didn't hit the pedestrian, but did admit to hitting the other cars.

Hicks was taken to the Washington County Jail.
