Investigators said Steven Miller and Daytra King robbed Young's Beauty Mart on Wedington Drive Monday evening. According to police, King took some items to the counter, and when the clerk opened the cash register, King pulled out a pipe and hit the clerk. Detectives said King tied the clerk up and the pair stole cash and other items from the store and ran.
When officers arrived, they found King's cell phone inside the store. Incoming calls to her phone showed Miller was repeatedly trying to get in touch with her. Police also said a picture of Miller showed up on King's phone every time he called.
Investigators found and arrested Miller about a block from the business. King was arrested at a mobile home park in Fayetteville. She had an outstanding warrant out of Corpus Christi, Texas for a probation violation on larceny.
Police said Miller invoked his right to remain silent during the police interview. According to detectives, King admitted to the robbery, and said Miller forced her to commit the crime because she owed him a debt.
Both face multiple felony charges and are being held in the Washington County jail.
