FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- In honor of Veterans Day on Monday, the 5th Annual Veterans Memorial 5K Race kicked off at the Fayetteville National Cemetery bright and early Saturday morning.

Money raised from the 5K registration fees will go toward the cemetery and the Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corporation expects to raise somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000 to buy more land.

The streets filled with families and friends, all honoring our service men and women and racing to show support for loved ones near and far.

"It's important for me as a veteran in the National Guard at 142nd as well as an ROTC Cadet Army through the UofA to support all the veterans that have run before me and have given their lives in combat and battlefield," said Ian Lindeman.
