ROGERS, AR-- Police have released the name of the officer who was hit by a car while directing Christmas Parade traffic.
UPDATE: Police have released the name of the officer who was hit by an SUV while directing Christmas Parade traffic.

Officer Waseng Xiong taken to Mercy for hip and leg injuries and stayed overnight for observation. Police said the driver, Carla Bauer failed to stop and was ticketed for disobeying a police officer. Officer Xiong has worked at the Rogers Police Department for about two years. The accident was investigated by Arkansas State Police.

ROGERS, AR-- A Rogers police officer is recovering in the hospital after a Monday night accident on Walnut and Third Street. Police tell us it happened shortly after the Rogers Christmas Parade downtown while the officer was directing traffic. Keith Foster, with Rogers Police, tells us the officer suffered minor injuries. He's recovering at Mercy Medical Center. No word yet on what caused the crash. We will have more details as they become available.
