Snow Slows Seasonal Shopping

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. -- The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are crucial for getting all the gifts under the tree. The winter weather, however, isn't helping much during the holiday rush.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR. -- It's the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also the busiest at the Northwest Arkansas mall in Fayetteville.  When the snow and ice hit, the shopping center saw a slow down.

"Early on, when the weather first rolled in, as you can imagine traffic was a little bit slow. We ended up closing early on Thursday and Friday," said Rhonda Bramell, Marketing manager with NWA Mall. "There was definitely less traffic than normally at the holidays for sure."

Bramell said with a shorter shopping season this year, the snow weekend cut into the little time left.

"With there being less time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this  year, I think it has kind of put the pressure on all of us," said Bramell.

As the snow and ice start to melt, Bramell expects more people through the doors.

"With weather impacting us now, we do expect to see bigger crowds through the rest of this week and into the weekend," she said.

"As you can imagine, people are ready to get out of their house a little bit," she said.
