The gifted and talented students from Harp and George elementary schools spent the day building hydraulic cars, toothpick bridges and doing other science activities. High school students from Springdale's Engineering and Architecture Academy helped the kids out, and the engineering camp was actually organized by three seniors at the school.
"I feel it's very important for students to understand what different things they can do with different fields," says Stephanie Sandoval. "Learning early on can really help with that."
Sandoval says an engineering camp in 8th grade convinced her to pursue the field, and now she has full scholarships to several different colleges across the country.
