"Tailgate for the Kids" is one of Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter's major fundraisers. They are the largest children's shelter in the state and provide around the clock emergency care for kids that have been abused and neglected.
The shelter will serve close to 7,000 children by the end of the year. So even with rain clouds overhead, many came out to show their support.
"The weather's pretty bad but you know what, the folks that attended today, their spirits have not dampened at all they're here having a good time," said Steve Schotta, Executive Director Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter.
This was the fourth year for "Tailgate for the Kids," and Schotta said along with raising awareness, the event will also raise more than $100,000 which will help them tremendously throughout the year.
