BENTONVILLE -- A teen was running with her cross country team when she was hit by a car Thursday morning.
Police said it happened at the intersection of Cub Circle and Tiger Boulevard off of Northeast A Street. According to witnesses, the 14-year-old girl was with a group of runners when she turned sharply into crosswalk, without looking, failing to give the oncoming vehicle an opportunity to yield. The driver then slammed on their breaks, hitting the girl. That's when police say another car then struck that vehicle from behind. Police are investigating the incidents as two separate accidents, and neither driver will be ticketed.
According to Bentonville Schools, she is a ninth-grader and a member of the varsity cross country team. She was taken to Mercy Hospital but suffered only minor bumps and bruises. Her injuries are non life threatening, but she was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital is Rogers.
