SPRINGDALE, AR-- A local home turned into a crime scene early Friday morning after police say a teenager called 911. Police say the teen told dispatchers his mother shot his father in the face. When police got to the home on Jennifer Street, officers say they found both parents with serious injuries. In the middle of it all was their 16-year-old son, who police say called 911 at around 1:30 A.M.Friday after knocking the gun out of his mother's hand. "Based upon what I know at this time, it seems like he made a very heroic action," says Lt. Derek Hudson, with Springdale Police. "Not only did he call the police, but based on what he told us, he took the gun away from mom. And so yes, very heroic, very brave move on his part." Police say the teen told officers his parents got into a heated argument and went into a room. Then he says he heard two gunshots. Responding officers found the 43-year old dad with a gunshot wound to the jaw. They say the mom was lying next to a bloody knife with a cut to her neck. Police say it was not clear if that wound was self inflicted or not. Both parents are in separate hospitals. The dad is at Washington Regional and the mom at Northwest Medical Center. The 16 year-old was at the police station Friday being interviewed by detectives as the investigation continued.
