"America's Favorite Cookie", the Oreo, is just as addictive as cocaine, at least for lab rats. Researchers put Oreos on one side of a maze and rice cakes on the other side. As you might imagine, when the rats were placed in the maze, they repeatedly returned to the Oreo side of the maze. Turns out the results mirrored those of a similar test conducted using addictive substances.
A California man is being held on $1 million bail for setting off a dry ice explosion at Los Angeles International Airport. Police arrested 28-year-old DiCarlo Bennett in the city of Paramount. He's charged with placing a destructive device near an aircraft Sunday. A second explosion at LAX on Monday is still under investigation.
Four people died when a small boat capsized off the coast of Miami early this morning. 11 people have been rescued, they were all found clinging to the capsized boat. One person was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released where the boat was coming from or its destination.
It looks like the government shutdown is coming to an end as the house and senate passed a bill to re-fund the government and raise the debt ceiling. The bill now heads to the president who is expected to sign it any time.
