A six-year-old boy has drowned in a pool on a carnival cruise ship. The cruise line released a statement saying the the ship was on the last leg of a four-day Caribbean cruise when the boy drowned yesterday. He was with other family members at the time. The cruise line extended it's sympathies to the family.

Clean-up efforts are underway in eastern India after tropical cyclone "Phailin" left a trail of destruction. Tens of thousands of lives may have been saved by a decision to move nearly a million people out of their homes in the path of the storm. However about 20 people were killed.

Crazy video now of a bizarre rescue. A Florida woman hanging on for dear life as she dangled from a raised drawbridge. The fire department hoisted a twenty-four foot ladder and brought her down to the cheering crowd. It's unclear what she was doing on the bridge in the first place. It's marked with a no trespassing sign and there's a warning siren when it's about to go up.

14 days into the partial government shutdown, the senate is still working on a deal to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government. Fresh off meetings Monday morning. Senate Republican leaders gave an update on their progress on reaching a debt deal, saying they're making progress. But, an oval office meeting between mister Obama, vice president Biden and congressional leaders from both parties has been postponed.
