Thousands Sign Up for Private Option in Arkansas

ARKANSAS-- From October 1 through October 12th, DHS says they received 1,509 applications through its state-run web portal and 1,119 telephone and paper applications.
ARKANSAS-- After two weeks of open enrollment the numbers of folks signed up for the Private Option is rising.

From October 1 through October 12th, Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) says they received 1,509 applications through its state-run web portal and 1,119 telephone and paper applications.  The DHS says they don't have totals for the Arkansans who may have applied through the federal marketplace.

A total of 56,288 adults who qualify for have told the DHS they are interested in enrolling in Arkansas' Affordable Care Act health insurance program.  According to the department, 10,454 have answered the health needs assessment questions and completed the enrollment process. About 28 percent (2,973) of the individuals enrolling were notified that the traditional Medicaid program would better meet their exceptional health care needs.
