Twitter has set the price of its initial public offering at $26 a share. The announcement came yesterday via a company tweet. The IPO price values twitter at about $14.2 billion. Twitter starts trading on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, under the ticker TWTR.
Lady Gaga's latest stunt is out of this world. According to Virgin Entertainment's Twitter page the singer is set to perform in outer space. A music festival in New Mexico in 2015 will close with Gaga blasting off into space where she will sing a song from her new album aboard the Virgin Galactic. Us Weekly reports that Gaga has taken out quite an extensive life insurance policy, just in case.
An International Space Station crew lifted off yesterday to take the Olympic torch into space. Once on board the I.S.S., the torch will be taken on a space walk and then it will return to earth. The Olympic torch was also flown into space in 1996 on the shuttle Atlantis. The 2014 winter Olympics kick off from Socchi Russia in February.
Country stars Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley poked fun at Obamacare last night as they co-hosted the country music awards by singing a parody of "Entertainer of the Year" winner George Strait's classic song "Amarillo by Morning." Strait won the award for the first time since 1990. He's about to launch the final leg of his farewell tour. Other big winners of the night included Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, and his wife Miranda Lambert.
Health and human services secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in the hot seat again Wednesday fielding more questions about what went wrong with the rollout of healthcare.gov and what's being done to fix it. As Sebelius faced calls for her resignation, President Obama was in Texas meeting with so-called "navigators," people hired to help others obtain coverage through the new health care website.
