NUMBER 5 - NAVY YARD SHOOTING VICTIM RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
One of the three people injured by gunfire in Monday's shooting at the Washington Navy Yard has been released from the hospital. Officials at Medstar Washington said a woman with gunshot wounds to the head and hand has been discharged. Two other gunshot victims remain hospitalized in fair condition, including another woman and a police officer. At least eight others were injured.

NUMBER 4 - ELECTRICAL ISSUE CAUSED BOARDWALK FIRE
Authorities said the fire that devastated the boardwalk in Jersey Shore was due to an electrical malfunction. The fire destroyed 86 businesses. Investigators said the fire began underneath a building housing Kohr's Frozen Custard and Biscayne Candies. According to the Ocean County prosecutor, the electrical wiring had sustained damage from sand and salt water during Hurricane Sandy. No one was seriously injured in the fire.

NUMBER 3 - GAS PRICE RECORD
Tuesday marked 1,000 consecutive days that the average price of gas has been more than $3 a gallon. The Motor Club says this streak started on December 23, 2010, and they estimate that unless there's another recession, high gas prices may be here to stay. The $3 threshold started after Hurricane Katrina slammed into the gulf, destroying oil rigs. On the bright side, prices also haven't averaged above $4.

NUMBER 2 - BRITNEY SPEARS HEADS TO VEGAS STRIP
Britney Spears is about to hit the Vegas strip. The singer announced she'll do a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino with a show titled "Britney: Piece of Me." The hotel website says the show will be a "marriage of high-end fashion, state of the art technology and slick nightclub panache." Tickets go on sale September 20th shows start December 27th.

Apple releases its newest mobile operating system today, iOS 7.
It's available for download on most late model iPhones, iPads and the iPod touch devices. iOS 7 will also be included on new iPhone models that hit stores this Friday. This new operating system offers a cleaner, minimalist design and a more colorful palette. Also included: Improved file sharing, a new male voice option for Siri, and 'iTunes radio,' a streaming music service similar to 'Pandora'.
