In the wake of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford admitting to having smoked crack cocaine, the Toronto city council voted Wednesday to ask the mayor to take a leave of absence. During the vote, his brother, Councilor Doug Ford, accused members of being hypocrites."I would like everyone in here to stand up who has smoked marijuana.The whole council would stand up. Don't come across that you're holier than thou, okay? Because you aren't," he said.

In Pittsburgh, 16-year-old A.J. Willet is charged with four counts of attempted homicide following a shooting outside a high school. Police say it was retaliation for a drug related robbery at the school last month. Investigators say Willet fired 7 or 8 shots and then ran into the woods. Police tracked him to a home and found a handgun that they say is related to this case.

Two 7-4-7 airplanes brought U.S. marines to Cebu, an island in the Philippines, sorting and delivering aid to millions in need in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan Wednesday. The Royal Australian Air Force delivered a portable field hospital, and Doctors Without Borders say three of nine cargo shipments it has planned also arrived.
