Toss A Can To Support the Hogs

Some U of A students took part in a friendly competition.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- While cruising around the University of Arkansas campus, you may have also spotted some kids collecting recyclables.

Those were Rogers Outdoor Education students doing their part in a large-scale effort to recycle and reduce waste at the Razorback football game and to keep campus clean. Blue bags were placed at every tailgate to collect recyclables, which also saved some cents.

"Ultimately it saves the university money too because instead of putting it into a landfill and paying to do that, they're recycling it, reusing it, re-purposing it and just doing what they need to do to be good environmental stewards themselves," said Katie Absher, Education Solutions Representative at Waste Management.

The students are part of a friendly competition among colleges around the country through the Game Day Recycling challenge. So if you spot them do them a favor and remember to recycle.
