UAMS Lung Symposium Warns Of Tobacco Use

LITTLE ROCK, AR- Dr Thaddeus Bartter is a Pulminologist for UAMS and said he doesn't believe the dangers of tobacco use get the attention it deserves.
LITTLE ROCK, AR- Dr Thaddeus Bartter is a Pulminologist for UAMS and said he doesn't believe the dangers of tobacco use get the attention it deserves.

"You can get lung cancer without smoking," he said. "With passive smoking and once you have it your chances of survival are very low."
Just ask comedian René Hicks a non smoker who got lung cancer from performing in smoky venues.

"I'm using my humor to be able to get info across and talk to people about what happened to me," she said.

She now uses her comedy as a way to advocate for healthy lungs and it's an issue also close to State Surgeon General Joe Thompson.

"We much keep pushing forward keeping youths from starting and getting adults to stop," he said.

This medical conference the perfect opportunity to do so, a forum to share ideas and information to get people to quit.
