UPDATE: Fayetteville Robbery Suspect Appears in Court

UPDATE:

FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- A hearing has been set for the man accused of robbing Metropolitan National Bank.

Fayetteville police arrested 18-year-old Zachary Porter Thursday evening the location on Wedington Avenue.  According to Sergeant Craig Stout, Porter handed the bank teller a note saying he had a bomb, and demanded money.  Officers say the teller gave him a bag of cash and Porter ran off.
    
He was caught a short time later, by officers.  Officers said Porter admitted to the robbery, telling police he needed the money to pay his rent. Porter's bond was set at $50,000 and his next hearing is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR- - Police have made an arrest in a robbery reported at Metropolitan National Bank Wednesday afternoon.

Officers got a call from the branch on 3971 West Wedington Drive at 4:31 where they say a man came in around and passed a note a teller saying he had a bomb. He walked out with some money.  A witness says the man ran into a nearby restaurant, The Catfish Hole,  and hid the cash in the bathroom.

He was caught a short time later and taken into custody on Persimmon Road.  No other customers and just three employees were in the bank when the robbery happened.
