Nursing home manager Sarah Robinson was terminated on November 20th.
"It is a personnel issue, so without going into too much detail, we just have to say that unfortunately a negative trend in the administrative decision making on her part facilitated this change in leadership," said Kelly Ferguson with the VA.
Robinson started at the Veterans Home in December of 2006. She was an administrator six years later, becoming the head of the Nursing Home in December 2012.
Kelly Ferguson with the VA can't say if the termination had anything to do with the citations that the Veteran's Home received this year. The home was cited three times in 2013. Earlier this year, a complaint was filed saying that a patient was neglected and died. However, the death wasn't reported for weeks.
A second report came in April when the Office of Long Term care said a patient's arm was broken while the patient was being restrained.
The third citation reported that the home was not caring properly for a patients wounds in late September.
Ferguson said the VA is taking steps toward a better Veteran's Home during this transition.
"We have actually sent staff from Little Rock to the Fayetteville facility. We have some representatives from the Arkansas Innovative Performance Program who are increasing visits," said Ferguson. "We have a consultant, an outside consultant, who has been up there and she will be returning next week. All of these are steps we have taken in this transitional time."
Through the staff changes, Ferguson wants folks to know that America's heroes are still the main priority.
