Deputies said a three-year-old girl told her mom Garrett Brown, 27, had forced her into a sex act during a "game" while he was babysitting her.
Brown was arrested Oct. 28 and faces charges of second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony, according to an arrest warrant issued in Benton County last week. He was released from the Benton County Jail on $20,000 bond.
Brown resigned from his position as the Planning Commission’s chairman following his arrest, according to the city. A spokesperson for Siloam Springs says he was not considered a city official because he was an unpaid volunteer.
City Administrator David Cameron released the following statement on Brown's resignation:
"Garrett Brown tendered his resignation letter on Monday and it was accepted by the City. In the letter, the reason for the resignation is listed as “no longer living in the planning area”. Since the resignation, the Board of Directors has appointed Karl Munger to the Planning and Zoning Commission. This appointment was made formal at the Board of Directors meeting Tuesday, November 5."
