Walmart Takes on Web Retail Competition

In order to better compete with sites like Amazon.com, Walmart is focusing on a seamless shopping experience.
BENTONVILLE, AR -- Walmart is taking on its web competition. In order to better compete with sites like Amazon.com, Walmart is focusing on a seamless shopping experience. The idea combines e-commerce with the in-store retail experience with features like site-to-store shopping, which allows customers to purchase an item online, then pick it up in a local store, sometimes within hours. Walmart is also stepping up its shipping game. By having local stores ship items to online customers, the retailer says it saves time and money. According to Walmart spokesperson Ravi Jariwala, more than 10% of units ordered on Walmart.com are now shipped from a store and the majority are delivered in two days or less. The retailer also has facilities focused solely on shipping to increase efficiency. CLICK HERE to learn more about this initiative.
