Washington County Trains Deputies to Safely Handle Violent Inmates

Deputies were trained Thursday with new techniques and new equipment with the goal of getting violent inmates out of their cells without anyone getting hurt.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Washington County is prepping for dangerous situations in the county jail. Deputies were trained Thursday with new techniques and new equipment with the goal of getting violent inmates out of their cells without anyone getting hurt. According to the sheriff's office, the training helps keep both inmates and officers safe.

"It's something fairly new to us," says Lt. Mike Cambron We've had training before, but this is new training we're going through."

More than 60 employees are now trained and ready to go on the new protocol. In addition to them, another four deputies have been certified to train others on the new equipment and safety measures.
