LITTLE ROCK -- Folks in Arkansas usually don't have a problem with pigs. But in Little Rock, there seems to be a serious swine situation. "Soiee" the Vietnamese pot-bellied pig has nearly 2,000 Facebook fans, but the hog is caught in a capital city controversy. Soiee's owner, Jill Latham, is vowing to fight for her pet after the city's Animal Services Advisory Board revealed plans to propose an ordinance that could keep pigs out of the city, requiring they be kept 300 feet from the nearest neighbor.
"It feels like the city didn't like what the judge said, so they just thought they'd change the rules, like a toddler who didn't get their way," Latham said. "My son is more concerned about what's going to happen to his pet. He cries himself to sleep some nights, saying 'what's going to happen to Sooiee?', and all I can say is we are going to fight until we can't stop."
The board of directors could hear the motion Tuesday night in Little Rock.
