No one seems to know where it came from, but people in Stuttgart are taking the challenge. One woman thinks it came from Heber Springs, where her friend challenged her to make a leap of faith. This means she has 24 hours to jump in a pool of water and donate to a charity of choice.
"It's a great opportunity to step out in your faith, jump for Jesus for everything that he's done for us and to raise money for the different charities," says Jennifer White, youth pastor.
We found people in Stuttgart jumping in pools and ponds Thursday. Some people came out for the first time.
"It's just been so much fun. I've loved watching the videos of everybody, it's entertaining. Plus knowing it all goes for a good cause makes it even better," says Babe Free, Stuttgart resident.
Babe Free learned about "Jumping for Jesus" through Facebook and Instagram where videos are flooding her news feed. Even though the water is freezing, she says it's worth the dive, and they're doing it anywhere they can.
"Random places, all times of the night. We've had people jump in swimming pools, also uncovering their swimming pools which are nasty and green, ponds, reservoirs," says White.
People of all ages are making a difference, by jumping in honor of a friend or loved one, and donating to different charities like Dana's House which has raised $1,400 dollars.
"When people feel like they can't do anything, when their situations like cancer or just different kinds of tragedies in the community, one thing we can do is rely on the Lord," says White.
Together as a community, they're taking a leap of faith that matters.
