Balloon Release Honors Victims of Child Abuse

FORT SMITH -- Members of the Sebastian County Department of Human Services released five hundred balloons to help create awareness with a visual reminder of just how many children have been victimized locally.
FORT SMITH -- An April 1st balloon release in the River Valley kicks off Child Abuse Prevention month.

Members of the Sebastian County Department of Human Services released five hundred balloons to help create awareness with a visual reminder of just how many children have been victimized locally.

"I just think seeing this many balloons that represent the children, you know, who have been abused and neglected in our area, will really open eyes to people to be on the lookout and to report anything that they think is wrong.’ said Tiffany Cox of Family Service Work.

The department says in the River Valley alone, over five hundred kids who have been abused and neglected are now in foster care. If you would like to learn how to help you can call the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-482-5964.
