Ground Broken on Whole Foods in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Ground has been broken on the new shopping area in Fayetteville that will include a Whole Foods store.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Ground was broken Wednesday on a new shopping area in northern Fayetteville that will include a new Whole Foods grocery store.

The retailer will be located near the intersection of Millsap Road and College Avenue, and is set to open in the Fall of 2015.

Representatives with the Austin, Texas-based healthy foods retailer said the store is still in early stages of development, and planners are still working to complete a layout.

Laura Zappi, Whole Foods' executive marketing coordinator for the southwest region, said the organic and healthy food choices in the produce section will cater to the local community.

"We've been named America's healthiest grocery store, so we hope to bring some healthier options here to Fayetteville," Zappi said. "We know it's already a very healthy community that's concerned about healthier eating options, and we hope to really bring a great addition to that."

The new store is expected to add about 150 new jobs in the area.
