CRAWFORD COUNTY -- The Crawford County Sheriff's Department has released new details from the investigation into a body found in a shallow grave near Rudy.

Half-brothers, Nick Barrows and Jonathan Bridgewater are in custody on first degree murder charges after the body was discovered near a house on Arkansas 348. A pipe bomb was also found inside the house.

According to a probable cause report, the anonymous tip they received Sunday was from a caller who said one week ago gunshots and screams were heard coming from the home. The person also told investigators Barrow had been seen coming out of the woods, limping and holding a shotgun.

After that, according to the caller's report, the caller said Bridgewater spoke about the body in the woods and asked if the caller had ever "seen a dead body" before showing the caller the body of a man underneath, covered in a tarp behind the house.

The caller reported Bridgewater said Barrow shot the man because he raped someone.

After the tip came in Sunday night, investigators searched two houses in the area. Sheriff Ron Brown said a total of three pipe bombs were found in one home. The bomb squad was sent to the site Monday morning and Highway 348 was closed to traffic as they detonated the bombs.

Brown said the body had been in the grave for 6-7 days and was too badly decomposed to be identified. There are no missing persons reports in Crawford County but Brown says they are talking to neighboring counties about other potential missing person cases.
