For her daughter, Cindy Dozier, Darline will always be with her.
"I'm gonna miss her, she was like my best friend, we had our moments but we're just alike," Dozier said, "There's a place in my heart that's empty."
The deceased's grandson, Randy Dozier, says she meant the world to him. "My grandma, she was more than a grandma, she was like another mother to me." Randy and Cindy are just trying to deal with the grief of such a tragic loss. They say knowing a family member is accused of the crime makes it even more difficult.
"She was in the process of moving in with me, and that's what breaks my heart, because she was trying to get away from Michael," Cindy said. "I don't understand why he..I just don't understand it."
Now, they're coming together to support one another and cherishing every moment.
"It's just the idea that we don't realize what we have until it's taken," Cindy said. "Life means more to me than it ever has before."
Cindy's message to families everywhere is simple: Don't take anything for granted.
"Love on your loved ones, take care of your mom and dad no matter if they drive you crazy. Spend time with them if its even 15 minutes, spend time with them."
