his home for nearly two hours Tuesday morning, say officials.
Authorities say they received a call of gun shots heard in the 1400 block of North 39th
Street around 4:30 a.m.
As officers arrived, additional shots rang out, and officers determined the shots were
coming from 1421 North 39th Street, say officials.
Police say shot were fired inside and outside of the home.
Authorities say, officers were able to speak with Gonzales through the back door, and he
told them he had someone in the house with him.
The Fort Smith SWAT team was called to assist and after hours of trying to negotiate with
Gonzales to come out peacefully, tear gas was administered into the home, says Sgt. Daniel Grubbs.
Police say, once inside the home the SWAT team went room to room and nobody else was found
inside the house.
Miguel Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center and
charged with Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits without bond, while
officers seek to have an involuntary medical evaluation done on him.
