Twenty bicyclists of Native American descent took part in a "Remember the Removal" ride Wednesday. Stopping at different points between Benton and Washington Counties, the cyclists visited memorial sites commemorating the historic Trail of Tears. For those involved, the day was emotional.
It's an emotional time for us to finish up this trail," said Joseph Erb, Remember of the Removal ride coordinator. "We experience a lot seeing all the grave sites of the people who traveled along and that didn't make it."
The riders plan on leaving early Thursday morning to finish out the ride in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
