The storms that ravaged several communities in the Midwest. Suspected tornadoes killed more than a dozen people Sunday. The national weather service reporting a tornado a half-a-mile wide crossing Interstate-40 in central Arkansas. Forecasters estimated wind speeds topping out at 150 miles per hour.
The National Basketball Players Association is demanding L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling be barred from all playoff games this season. Sterling is accused of making racist remarks recently. In a conversation released by TMZ and Deadspin, a man believed to be Sterling is heard scolding his girlfriend about her Instagram feed for posting photos of herself with African-Americans. At a game this weekend, the Clippers played with their jerseys inside-out in protest.
Singer-songwriter Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell were in court Monday after their arrest on disorderly conduct charges. Simon told the judge they just had an argument Saturday night. The judge did not issue a protective order that would have kept the two apart. Simon said neither feels threatened by the other. They will be back in court on May 16th.
Congressman Michael Grimm of New York, resigned Monday after pleading not guilty. Grimm is accused of fraud, filing false tax returns and perjury. The 20-count indictment follows a 2-year FBI investigation that focused on his failed Manhattan restaurant business. After his arraignment, Grimm accused the government of character assassination.
Frontier Airlines, tacking on a fee for carry-on bags. The airline is changing how it charges for extra items. The fees for an economy class ticket are "unbundled," meaning passengers can purchase just the extras they want. Frontier says in exchange for the new fees, it is lowering its base fare by an average of 12 percent.
