Here's an update from Your Weather Authority:
The snow storm is here just as expected! Winter Storm Warnings are still in effect for most of NWA and the entire RV until 9 PM, but for Boone, Newton and Johnson counties in our eastern viewing area... the warning goes until midnight!
Another heavy band of snow has developed in NWA, extending from the ENE to the SW from Huntsville to Webbers Falls in E OK. Already 2 to 3+" has fallen across the NWA/RV area and this band of heavy snow will produce another 2 to 4" additional accumulation during the early afternoon into the early evening. The snow will continue until later this evening around 8 PM (give or take an hour or two) when if finally comes to an end.
ROAD CONDITIONS have become TREACHEROUS and VERY HAZARDOUS. Accidents have been reported all over the viewing area. Cars are getting stuck on that big hill near the Cliffs Apt on Crossover. Multiple accidents have been reported on College Ave. and there's been a car pile-up on Mission Blvd in between College Ave and Crossover. I-540 southbound near Exit 60 had a jackknifed semi-truck slowing/stopping traffic. If you do venture out for your Superbowl parties which I don't recommend... USE EXTREME CAUTION AND TAKE IT VERY SLOW. The snow will NOT melt tonight as the temp plummets and the sky clears, which means MOST LIKELY schools will be closed area wide for Monday. Another system is on the way for Tuesday that looks to bring freezing rain, sleet and snow into the area, but we'll refine that forecast over the next day. Let's cross that bridge when we get to it. Monday will be clear and quiet, but COLD in the morning with low 10s and possibly even colder with the snow-pack.
We'll be providing webcast extras thru the day every 1-2 hours, so keep it here with your Weather Authority for the latest! -Dan Skoff
