FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- Folks are preparing to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 4,000 students at the University of Arkansas on Saturday.

Commencement will be held at 8:45 Saturday morning inside Bud Walton Arena.

Traffic on and around campus will be congested. University of Arkansas police Captain, Gary Crain, said certain streets will have limited access.

“There will be certain intersections like Leroy Pond Drive. Officers will be stationed there so the traffic is restricted and when events are over we work from intersections to try to facilitate people getting out while other people are coming in.”

Crain said Leroy Pond Drive between Clinton Boulevard and Razorback Road will be only be open to folks getting dropped off for the ceremony. Other streets in the area will also be congested.

Crain said, “North Garland Avenue going from campus out to the bypass going North, that area is under construction and so that also slows traffic so that's another consideration to take.”

However, Crain said even though Garland Avenue might be jammed, it's probably the best way to get to campus on Saturday.

UAPD will be stationed across campus to maintain safety and facilitate traffic flow throughout the day.
