Upscale Central Arkansas Neighborhood Residents Shocked After Meth Lab Bust

MAUMELLE, AR -- No one answered the door Monday afternoon at a home off Summit Valley Circle, but the black paint over the garage windows is your first clue of what police say was going on inside.
MAUMELLE, AR -- No one answered the door Monday afternoon at a home off Summit Valley Circle, but the black paint over the garage windows is your first clue of what police say was going on inside.

"It's really scary," said one neighbor who asked not to be identified.

Maumelle Police kicked down the door Friday afternoon. It was the culmination of a month-long drug investigation.

"We found numerous items in the house that were indicative of a methamphetamine lab," said Maumelle Police Capt. Jim Hansard.

Police say they also found syringes and other drug paraphernalia for using meth.

Scott McClain was arrested charged with the Manufacture of Methamphetamine. His wife Shannan was also arrested. She faces a charge of Maintaining a Drug Premises.

"It's a nice close-knit neighborhood, but we didn't know anything about this family," the anonymous neighbor said.

During interviews police say the McClain's admitted to cooking up meth inside the home between four and five times in the last three months.

Neighbors say they always thought there was something strange going on at the house with the blacked out windows, but they never imagined this.

Scott and Shannan McClain both posted $25,000 bond and have been released from jail.
